When other prepaid cards discuss the strengths that can be provided to cardholders, the NetSpend card is what they base their comparisons on. With more than 130,000 reload locations available, this is one of the easiest and safest cards to carry.
What to Expect with the NetSpend Visa
NetSpend prepaid cards give you three account structures from which to choose. You can have a card without a monthly maintenance fee and pay transaction fees or choose an all-included plan with a monthly fee.
The FeeAdvantage Plan is $9.95 per month and is the basic enrollment plan. If you meet direct deposit minimums, account holders can qualify for the $5 per month Premier Plan. On the pay-as-you-go plan, signature purchases have a $1 fee and PIN purchases have a $2 fee.
ATM fees apply as well, with all domestic ATMs having a $2.50 withdrawal fee. International ATMs have a $4.95 withdrawal fee. If a NetSpend Visa card is declined at an ATM, then a $1 fee applies.
How to Add Money to the NetSpend Visa
Reload network locations allow for funds to be added to the NetSpend debit card, though convenience fees for loading vary by location. Bank transfers are possible for free, but an instant bank transfer of $99 or less has a $3.95 loading fee.
Funds may not be available for up to 48 hours after they have been transferred to the account. This wait period may not apply to direct deposit arrangements. There is no limit to the number of loadings available for this debit card, by maximum balance limits may apply.
A $10 purchasing cushion may also be applied to the NetSpend Visa is certain situations. If approved, only one negative balance of up to $10 will be allowed at a time.
